Our Mission 🎯
Afghan Geeks: Empowering Afghan Women in Technology through Education, Mentorship, and Career Opportunities
Our programs are designed to empower women by:
- Equipping them with essential web development skills to build a strong foundation in technology.
- Increasing their career prospects through job placement assistance and industry connections.
- Fostering a supportive community where they can network, collaborate, and learn from each other.
Technical Education
Driven by a deep commitment to empowering women through technology, I independently provide structured coding courses and practical training, using my own resources to create opportunities. These courses are designed to help participants gain a solid foundation in modern software development, focusing on essential skills like building user interfaces, solving real-world problems, and collaborating effectively within a team. Beyond technical expertise, my program emphasizes teamwork, adaptability, and self-confidence, enabling women to not only contribute meaningfully to existing projects but also to start and lead new ones. This initiative aims to prepare women to use modern technologies as everyday working tools and to thrive in the evolving tech industry.
Career Opportunities
Afghan Geeks actively collaborates with tech companies and organizations to create meaningful career pathways for Afghan women. We build partnerships that open doors to job opportunities, internships, and freelance projects, empowering women to gain financial independence and industry experience. We welcome new collaborations and partnerships with like-minded organizations to expand these opportunities further.
Mentorship & Support
Through mentorship from industry professionals, we guide women as they build confidence and grow their tech expertise, providing a strong foundation for long-term success in the field.
What is real world project based learning and why is it good for new programmers?
At Afghan Geeks, we believe in learning by doing through our Code4Her program. As you immerse yourself in the curriculum, you'll gain hands-on experience by working on real-world projects. From cloning platforms like Medium to exploring cutting-edge technologies, our approach ensures you build both your portfolio and your skill set in a practical way.
Real world project-based learning is beneficial for new programmers because it provides practical experience, enhances problem-solving skills, and helps in understanding the application of theoretical knowledge. It also boosts confidence and prepares them for real job scenarios.

Murtaza Jafari – Founder & Mentor
With over 4 years of experience as a software developer and engineer, I founded Afghan Geeks in early 2023 with a mission to help Afghan youth, especially Afghan girls, break into the tech industry. I specialize in JavaScript, Next.js, React, Node.js, and Tailwind CSS. I am passionate about mentoring and believe in the power of hands-on learning through real projects.
This year, I've mentored several young Afghan girls, guiding them to build projects like Medium.com clones, helping them develop real-world skills and confidence to land their first jobs in tech.
